David I. Deyhimy, M.D. is the Medical Director and founder of South County Addiction Treatment Services (SCATS). Board certified in both Addiction Medicine and Anesthesiology, he brings nearly 20 yrs. of combined practice experience to Luminance Recovery.
Recognizing that drug and alcohol dependency results from a complex interplay of medical, psychological and social factors, Dr. Deyhimy is compassionate towards those trying to break the cycle of addiction. He firmly believes that anyone brave enough to enter treatment in order to break free of addiction should be supported, assisted and encouraged to the greatest extent possible.
Dr. Deyhimy and his SCATS medial team utilize evidence based treatment protocols, with the goal of providing a safe, effective and comfortable withdrawal from drugs and alcohol. All patients are individually assessed for their unique medical and psychological circumstances. Treatment protocols are tailored to the individual’s specific needs in an effort to provide the most effective and least traumatic detoxification experience possible.
A firm believer in communication, Dr. Deyhimy actively facilitates communication between his treatment team and facility staff. By utilizing a care team model, he often makes adjustments to detoxification protocols or medications based on how an individual is progressing, which leads to greater patient and staff satisfaction.
Dr. Deyhimy also coordinates various aspects of care that go beyond detoxification, including follow-up care with psychiatrists and primary care physicians when necessary. He believes that recognizing and addressing other medical and psychiatric issues early in treatment leads to better long-term participation in treatment and superior outcomes. When appropriate, patients are also offered relapse prevention medications to help decrease cravings and improve the chances for sustained sobriety.
